A random update. I can believe we're in Semester 2 already, feels like I'm still fully in holiday mood. Although I woke up almost 4 hours again, my biological clock still tells me that I should be sleeping- after all I have been sleeping at 3-4am and waking up at 12-1 everyday during the holidays. The sudden change to wake up 6 hours earlier just doesn't do it for me. Symptoms : heavy eyelids, yawning every few minutes and inability to concentrate despite black V .__.
The past 2 days haven't been particularly productive either. In fact, the quality and safety training course that was required for us pharmacy students as well as medical and nursing students which taught us about errors and violation in medicine was rather boring although somewhat less so than Maori health week. Probably the only good thing was the free cookies during morning tea and afternoon tea :P
On Monday lunch break we went to Yum Cha at Ellerslie racecourse and ordered quite a lot. I have to admit they have some really interesting dim sums and that place is quite decent. When we came out we realised we forgot to take off our name stickers which we stuck on our clothes, how embarassing >< We went to McDonalds for lunch on Tuesday coz it was closeby. They have trolls as the promotional toy for happy meals now; this reminds me of myself when I was a kid and I used to collect those ugly things. (In fact I used to play with really random toys when I was young which seem quite retarded when I look back, such as barbie :P)
Oh I had a soft serve too, haven't had those in ages but how can one pass on icecream when its available =D Anyway, both days at the convention centre pretty much covered past accidents that occured in the hospital/home and precautions that health professionals should take to avoid them and systematic changes that should be put in place to avoid these areas. Fairly general if you ask me but I guess it would be useful in clinical situation but not always practical.
It was horrible to drive yesterday morning though with heavy fog that allowed less than 30m visibility =/ took ages to get there from Howick and even longer to get back = =

Blah I feel sick. Thats what happens you overeat following a period of no food coz of lack of time. My stomach has certainly succeeded in making me feel like I need to throw up as well as being dizzy :S, I'm so glad I don't have to go to uni tmw since I only have one class.
Yesterday it seems like that I spent the whole day in the car coz the traffic was so shit. 1 hr and 40 mins from Middlemore to Howick is a bit : The workshop at Middlemore was just a waste of time I thought - it was just like a normal tutorial but using a crammed stuffy room in the hospital; are we really that short of room in Auckland uni?
I am such a loner .__. In year one I used to be able to go around anywhere in uni and almost certainly find someone, but not anymore. I can come back from grafton for 2 hrs and end up spending it alone coz I don't know anyone. Unis flooded with year ones now and it really reminded of people I used to hang out with, which I hardly see now.
Grrr Nancy you're sposed to be my gf, whens my date!!!???

Its been looooooooong since I updated but I have a very good excuse :P I went to the ski trip with Tansa for a few days and YAY I learnt how to snowboard after 2 days =D However, I have sprained both my wrists and have a lot of bruises all over my leg :S
Its a great time to go skiing at this time of the year coz theres not many people. It snowed this yr as usual but the surprising thing was that it also snowed at the lodge =D What a pretty sight!! Hmmm...its kinda freaky down there at National Park though...its a lot less busy than Auckland. One night, after dinne rwhich was er around 9 ish me and Henry went for a walk outside and were talking as we walked. When we stopped, it was dead silent to the point we could heard the wind whistling, and I must say I don't like it that way coz it seems too ghostly.
Oh we had a few stopovers on the way to and back - Cambridge, Rotorua, Hamilton and some towns in between. It was nothing spectacular just needed to buy some snacks here in there. The coach was a double decker one but the engine was really shit coz on the way back it was going uphill on the motorway at like 30 kmh -.-
Anyways off to eat icecream I'll blog more later =p

I love eating =p My diet during the whole exam was bound to blog up my arteries and give me hypertension decreasing my life span by years BUT its exams, I eat because of boredom =p Basically I've been chowing down packets of cookies in one sitting with my record of having 4 large cookie times as a morning snack. Those of you know me know my crazy sweet tooth. When I go for junk food I won't be satisfied by a little but as soon as I open the packaging I keep going because I lack self control. That leads to eating a whole block of white chocolate in one go or something just as disastrous XD
Anyway.........YAY!!! The end of hell :P No more exams!! *notes to myself* must indulge in some shopping :P

While I was clearing my shelf of scrap pieces of paper and throwing away my Pharmacy 202 notes, I came across my Human142 coursebook from last year. For those you who did that paper last yr, you would remember it as the deadliest paper of the year. I skimmed through it and decided: I don't mind sitting year one exams again. All of these year's lecture are twice as long nd much more in depth and the concepts are a lot harder to understand. Take Pathology 251 for example, it took me 3 whole days to revise 5 cancer lectures which are fucking hard. Theres a gazillion diagrams to remember and a bazillion enzymes names to recall. Not to mention I won't remember most of it if I had to write it down after all that time. Even if they gave me this year's exam paper in advance and allow me do it with my course book, it would still be difficult getting anywhere near the 80% mark.
Ahhhh...cancer.....no wonder it has taken human so long to find a cure.

Today I discovered the importance of an expiry date. I haven't been feeling very well for the last few days coz of intense cramming so was kinda dizzy and had vomit reflexes all through out today. By the time mum got home, she told me to take a hot shower and see if I feel better so I took her advice. After getting out I did indeed feel better but smelled some strange aroma filling the kitchen. It was curry chicken.
HOWEVER, this was not not chicken as I had to find out the hard well. I was quite hungry so took a massive chunk out of a drunkstick and swallowed it. EWWW, the meat tasted beyond gross - it was some weird poultry smell you would only get at a meat shop, but my assumption was that the curry taste had already covered most of the stench.
Anyway, after complaining, my parents decided to try for their own and somewhat agreed. They finished the chunk they were eating and stopped there and we all wondered why it tasted so gross. After a while, mum say it was a Tegal chicken from a family friend who knew a supplier and so got free frozen chickens regularly and had so many he gave them away.
We decided to check the label and realised it had expired last December!!! I have an exam tomorrow, lets hope I don't get diarrhea ><
Lesson of the day : Theres really no free lunch
Btw thanks a lot Henry for going to uni today to print off papers for me and taking them all the weay over so early in the morning, really appreciate it =D

My hopes of possibly getting an A for molmed are down the drain. That sums up today's exam, mainly due to horrible multiple choice. The short answers were...well...let's say you need to memorise the whole course book + lab work to do get anything better than a mere pass.
HOWEVER....thats one down 3 to go........I'm dead for these exams. Anyone else in the same boat?
